Presentation of the High SchoolThe "Lycée d'Adultes" (L'A) is located 132 rue d'Alésia 75014 Paris. The school offers a wide range of courses in the day, with a strong specialisation in languages- French, English, Spanish - and in the evening preparation courses for the General French Baccalauréat exam– with the L, ES and S sections. A public High School of the Paris City HallEstablished by the Paris City Hall, the LMA, Municipal High School for Adults does not have any equivalent in France based on its unique educational format. As a public institution, placed under the banner of secularism and equal opportunity, access is not subject to revenue conditions or any entrance examination. Level tests are organised to determine which class, between 10th, 11th and 12th grades, the applicant should attend. The low annual registration fee facilitates access (110 € in 2015). The LMA, Municipal High School for Adults does not replace secondary educational institutions. The LMA’s education is intended primarily for working people who have interrupted their schooling, sometimes for many years, and wish, for various reasons, to prepare and pass their Baccalauréat exam to reconnect with their studies. The courses are held in the evening from 6pm to 10pm, Monday through Friday, September through June. The 10th and 11th grades have a total of 20 hours per week and the 12th grades also have courses on Saturday mornings from 9 am to 1pm, with a weekly total of 24hours. The evening break time is from 7:50 pm to 8:10 pm and on Saturdays from a 10:50 am to 11:10 am. Teachers are often certified teachers and participate actively in the school life. They help students overcome their difficulties due to their ability to listen, their expertise in adapting programs and their ability to communicate with an adult audience. Age, cultural and social diversities have the effect of boosting classes while promoting solidarity and citizenship. |
